Head injury covers a wide range of injuries occurring to the head and/or brain. The injury may be of various degree. Symptoms of a head injury may be characterized by bleeding, swelling, sleepiness, nausea, confusion, amnesia, impaired vision, headaches, loss of consciousness, and irritability. Treatment is dependent on the severity of the head injury. Head injuries may be treated with stitches, rest, pain killers or other pain relieving medication, surgery, by monitoring pressure inside the brain, monitoring the patient for changes, acupuncture, and herbal remedies.
