Roseola is an acute disease of infants or very young children caused by two common viruses – herpes type six and herpes type seven. It is also known as Roseola infantum, exanthem subitem, and pseudorubella. Symptoms include a high fever, skin rash, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, swollen lymph glands, and cold-like symptoms. Roseola usually resolves on its own but treatment options include fluids, bed rest, medication to reduce fever, herbal remedies, homoeopathy, and acupressure.
