Autism/Asperger’s Syndrome

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests in early childhood, affecting social interaction, communication, imagination, and behaviour. Asperger’s syndrome is associated with autism, as both disorders encompass, amongst other things, impaired social and communicative skills. Other symptoms of these two disorders include restricted interests and repetitive behaviours, unusual reactions to sensory experiences and poor eye contact. Treatment options include behavioural therapy, medication, speech therapy, occupational therapy and psychotherapy.
