Anxiety is a nasty, heightened state of nervousness, apprehension or fear that goes hand-in-hand with stress, tension and, in some cases, depression. It is a state defined by subjective feelings of dread, related or separate to an underlying anxiety disorder. Treatments are as varied as the potential concern, and include medicine, nutritional supplements and vitamins, herbal medicine, a change in diet, aromatherapy, bodywork (massage, shiatsu), and exercise. Stress reduction techniques such as yoga, tai chi, and meditation are also widely recommended.
