Septicaemia is a medical emergency and, as such, requires immediate treatment. Symptoms include a haemorrhagic rash, fever and/or chills, a loss of interest in food and surroundings, lethargy, anxiety, agitation, a rapid heart rate and/or rapid breathing, becoming extremely ill, and coma. Treatment for septicaemia includes antibiotics, treating the underlying cause, and hospitalization, which may involve intensive care, supportive therapy and life support.
