Nephritis is the inflammation of one or both kidneys. It can be caused by such things as infections, diseases or auto-immune disorders. Symptoms of nephritis include proteinuria (loss of protein through urine), water retention, increased blood pressure, headache, drowsiness, reduction in urine volume, dark urine, general malaise, and nausea. Treatment options include medication, a restricted diet, dialysis, herbal remedies, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
