Dementia refers to the mental deterioration that occurs when physical changes affect the brain. Patients experience impaired thinking, reasoning and memory loss, all of which might impact one’s ability to function as they have been. Alzheimer’s disease is the most widespread form of dementia, though the progressive disease might be triggered by brain injuries, strokes, medical conditions and brain infections. Addressing the underlying condition when applicable is the first form of treatment, though homeopathy, vitamins, music and art therapy, acupuncture, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medical can all alleviate symptoms.
