Studying Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a great natural therapy that has all kinds of applications and can benefit many different people.  If you’ve experienced the joy of aromatherapy for yourself and want to share it with other people, you have the option of studying it in order to gain both personal and professional rewards. Here’s some more information.

Choosing to Study Aromatherapy

If you decide that aromatherapy is a field that you would like to go into, you can opt to study it and gain a qualification. You can study courses from beginner levels right through to diploma and advanced levels. All courses will give you at least a basic knowledge of aromatherapy but many courses will give you more advanced knowledge. Courses will cover such areas as the history of aromatherapy, anatomy, aromatherapy and massage techniques, the psychological and physiological effects of essential oils, how to blend essential oils, and safety.

Where to Study Aromatherapy

One great way to study aromatherapy is through home study. This has the advantage of you being able to study at your own pace and in your own time. You will still have access to all the support that you need throughout the course and you will learn the necessary information about aromatherapy in order to become fully qualified. You can also study courses through registered colleges. It is ideal if the college or course is accredited. An accredited course means that you will be able to use your diploma or certificate once you have finished studying in order to gain employment in the aromatherapy industry. It also means that you will be able to gain the necessary insurance cover to allow you to practise.

When studying aromatherapy, you should ask about the cost of the course as well as any associated costs (buying materials etc). You should check that the course runs at a suitable time for you and covers all of the things that you are interested in studying. Don’t forget to check out any pre-requisites that you may need to complete before studying (this is more likely for advanced courses).
