Massage
Massage provides relaxation and a higher sense of well being. It is also linked positively with lower heart rate, blood pressure as well as insulin and various hormone levels such as cortisol and serotonin.
Stress relief is key to achieving a healthier lifestyle. Massage is a simple, yet powerful healing art that has been utilised in many cultures around the world for thousands of years. It is possibly the oldest form of physical therapy and is still an integral part of many cultures and their holistic approach to maintaining and restoring health and well being.
Pip Charlton is a qualified, industry respected and experienced massage therapist who can help with:
Relaxation Massage
A relaxation massage will leave you feeling relaxedand chilled out. In this day and age of high stress from whatever cause (work, health, technology, relationships), it’s important to have solid stress management strategies in place, and a regular relaxation massage can make a real difference.
Touch has been proven to be a key survival need. So this is also a wonderful option for those who live on their own or for whatever reason don’t normally receive regular touch in their life.
Pip uses a variety of techniques to instill calmness and peace, to the mind and body.
The level of pressure used depends on your preference, ranging from light to firm, but you are always in control.
Treatment / Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is goal oriented, focused and specific to the soft tissues involved. In most cases, attention to other areas of the body may be necessary to deal with the cause of the problem.
Treatment Massage can also help to address chronic pain, poor posture, and muscle imbalances.
There are many different types of techniques that Pip uses to address soft tissue dysfunction, including: trigger point therapy, myofascial work, postural re-education, plus pilates mat based exercises.
Myofascial Release Massage operates on the principle that you store stress and tension in your muscles and your connective tissues. This causes them to become stiff and locked, which results in discomfort, or even pain, in your everyday life. Myofascial work uses specific techniques to release the connective tissues (fascia) thereby restoring good health to muscles and joint structures in the surrounding area.
A personalised management plan and time-frame for specific injury related work will be discussed with Pip at the outset of any massage work.
Sports Massage
goal oriented programme of massage designed specifically to help you achieve your
optional sporting performance
can be incorporated at all different stages of training and competition
(pre and post competition, recovery from training, injury rehabilitation)
helps to improve circulation, rebalance the body’s musculoskeletal and
neuromuscular systems, loosen tight muscles and reduce stress on joints.
All of these factors will help to directly improve your ability to train at a high level, recover quickly, thereby improving your performance.
