Bowen Therapy
What is Bowen Therapy?
Bowen Therapy is a safe, gentle and effective hands-on technique which promotes healing, pain relief and energy rebalancing for both humans and animals.
The Bowen Technique was developed in the 1950’s by the late Tom Bowen from Geelong, Australia. Tom Bowen became a celebrated therapist, regularly treating over 13,000 patients each year.
In a Bowen treatment a series of specifically placed moves are executed to address the fascia lying between the muscles and skin. The fascia forms a continuous sheath throughout the body and houses nerves, muscles, lymph and blood vessels and organs. During the treatment there are one to two minute intervals when the patient is left to rest, while the body absorbs the gentle moves, allowing fine adjustments to take place.
Blockages are freed and reconnections are made. Adhesions released and the affected area can become more hydrated. This assists the structures housed within the fascia to function more effectively, which leads to a better level of general health and decreased levels of pain.
A treatment will take approximately 50 minutes. Acute injuries and pain can respond in only 2 to 3 sessions; chronic or severe conditions may need more sessions.

Homeopathy
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a gentle, effective and scientifically based system of healing that assists the natural defence mechanism of the body in healing itself.
Homeopathy is Greek for “like cures like”. What this means is that a substance, any substance taken by a healthy person and causing certain symptoms or dis-eases, can “cure” a sick person, showing similar symptoms. Homeopathy has its own range of over 3000 remedies and uses substances from the mineral, animal and plant kingdoms.
A central principal of homeopathy is that every individual is unique and that the treatment must be tailored to the individual. Treatment is therefore not dependent on a diagnosis, but requires a thorough observation of signs and symptoms.
The animal will be assessed by observing the symptoms that are shown, its behaviour and mental emotional state, its build and overall physical state and the specific characteristicss of the individual animal. This is followed by an analysis of the assessment and this will determine which remedy could benefit the animal.

Cocker Spaniel with regular and violent Epileptic fits
Our 6 year Spaniel has had epileptic fits since 2006. They were very regular and violent. We changed diet and she was given medication, but she still had them every 4 weeks. In Nov 2010 Hannelore treated our dog Homeopathically and when I am writing this she has not had a fit for 16 weeks!!

Boomer with separation anxiety
Since January 2007 we are the owners of a female Boomer (a mixture of a Shih Tzu and a Maltese dog). She was 9 weeks old when she came to live with us, but she had problems right from the beginning. She developed separation anxiety in a severe way and it made no difference whether she stayed in a bench all night (until she was one year old) or whether she was walking around in the living room.
Sometimes when we wanted to go away for 3 or 4 hours she would pee and poop inside the house due to her separation anxiety. She would also scratch her belly when insecure.
In July 2012 we decided to try some new things with her after consulting Hannelore and we would start a Homeopathic remedy Hannelore had picked out for Emmy after answering a lot of questions about her behavior.
Soon after starting her on the Homeopathic remedy, Emmy became more relaxed and she even seemed to understand us more in what we expected from her. She also became a lot more relaxed when left alone during the day. We saw some other things developing as well; she never understood how to play with a toy unless we would play with her. But after taking the remedy she taught herself how to do that and she really enjoys playing with a toy by herself now.
Fortunately Hannelore had planned to come to Holland for six weeks, and during that stay she gave two Bowen treatments to Emmy as well to help her re-balance herself and get her more relaxed.
Emmy enjoyed those sessions right from the beginning! It was even funny to watch how she reacted in a very positive way to Hannelore!!
Thank you very much Hannelore for all your advice and consultations and for doing the Bowen treatment on her! It all helped to let Emmy be a better and happier dog!!

Hannelore Kemme
I am of Dutch origin and immigrated to New Zealand in 2000. I always planned to become a Vet, as I have a great love for animals. However due to a restricted number of intake of students at the time I missed out. I ended up in a different direction acquiring a Bachelor in Hotel Management and have worked in various industries.
While living in New Zealand I developed an interest in Natural Health Therapies and I subsequently qualified as a Bowen Therapist in 2004 and did a course in Small Animal Bowen Therapy in 2010. I also completed a 4 year course in Animal Homeopathy in 2010.
