Zuri has over 20 years of teaching experience with formal qualification in Exercise to Music RSA, Step, Swiss Ball, Pathway to Yoga, Zumba, NYC Pilates & more. A background in modern contemporary dance and a passion for health & fitness she has the energy to motivate and inspire all who join her on the journey to well-being.
Yoga & Pilates
Yoga meaning ‘to unite’ – joining the body, mind & soul together as one. Yoga has both preventive and therapeutic benefits. It provides the means for people of any age not only to get and stay in shape but also to develop balance, co-ordination, and a sense of centeredness. It renews and invigorates the body – stretching and toning the muscles, joints and spine. Yoga can be practiced for all sorts of reasons: to remain fit; to stay healthy or recover your health; to balance your nervous system; to calm your busy mind, and to live in a more meaningful way.
Pilates is dynamic – some exercises are meant to be slow, while others take on a faster tempo. The very nature of the Pilates method (created by Joseph Pilates) is meant to keep the mind engaged as well as the core. While Pilates training focuses on the core-strength, it trains the body as an integrated whole – promoting strength and balanced muscle development as well as flexibility and increased range of motion. Pilates is popular in rehabilitation, as well as with athletes who find Pilates a great foundation for any kind of movement.

Pathway to Yoga
A class that aims to rejuvenate the body and free the mind from tension and fatigue. It is viewed as an introduction to the more traditional Yoga forms and as the name suggests, will provide you with a pathway into the world of Yoga through the use of the physical postures.
Pilates
A group mat class based on the classical Pilates method which incorporates dynamic moves to tone and strengthen the arms, legs and core whilst improving overall postural alignment for a lean defined athletic look.
Energize
An exercise class designed for those new to exercise or those returning from injury or pregnancy also suitable for the older client to help improve muscular, strength & endurance through low impact but high intensity moves to increase energy levels and zest for life.
Swiss Ball
A small group class that uses the traditional exercise ball incorporating yoga & Pilates techniques to improve core strength, balance and overall co-ordination. Class is limited to 6 only - booking essential.
Pilates Circuit
A small group class incorporating intermediate/advanced Pilates mat exercises with equipment such as swiss ball, Pilates circle, flexi-band. Booking essential.
Yoga for Kids
Yoga for Kids - designed especially for kids to help them explore the many benefits of yoga through the use of the physical postures, like cat, cow, cobra and down dog. An 8 Week Course is available for 5-7 Years and 8-11 Years. Book on-line via the Events page.
Qi Gong
"Qi" means energy, especially 'life energy'. "Gong" means 'work' or 'practice' or 'mastery' So Qi Gong is often translated as 'energy work', but as you can see, it means much more than that. Many in NZ have heard of 'Reiki' which is a Japanese style of Qi Gong. Qi Gong is often called Taoist Yoga as that by attending classes and practising daily you keep yourself young and in optimum health.
