In this course, you will learn how to relax and how to use your thoughts to gain a more positive outlook. This is done using proven hypnotic techniques under the guidance of Clinical Hypnotherapist Alison Adams. The advantage of hypnosis is that it works with the subconscious mind enabling change to be easy and effortless. You will also learn self-hypnosis skills and how to incorporate these into your daily life for self-improvement. With just 10 – 25 minutes a day practising the skills taught on this course, long lasting benefits can be achieved. What do I need?

  • A mat or blanket to bring to class so you can chill out and relax during class hypnotic sessions.

Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state which feels pleasant and enjoyable. Your body feels like it is so relaxed you could go to sleep but your mind is very much awake so you can hear everything clearly and even talk if desired. How does hypnotherapy lead to a change in behaviour? Have you ever tried to change your behaviour but felt unable to stop yourself falling back into old habits? For example you might stick to your healthy diet for weeks then suddenly start stuffing chocolate in your mouth. This happens because your subconscious mind still wants to binge on chocolate even though you have made a conscious decision to eat salad and get in shape. Hypnotherapy removes the struggle and makes change easy, even effortless, by simply altering your subconscious programming so that your conscious and subconscious minds are working in harmony. This is possible because when you are in hypnosis your subconscious mind can be spoken to directly. What is the therapy process? The first step is to make a definite decision that you want to change a habit or behaviour pattern and then call Inner Switch Hypnotherapy to make an appointment. In your first session we will discuss your problem and desired goals so that a treatment plan can be designed specifically for you. This session also includes an explanation and experience of hypnotherapy. In following sessions your treatment plan and progress will be discussed and you will be given therapy whilst in hypnosis. All hypnotic suggestions will be discussed and agreed to beforehand. Between sessions you will practice exercises at home that involve relaxation, hypnosis and other agreed activities. A typical problem can be resolved in 3-5 clinical sessions. At the end of the treatment program you will continue your work on self improvement using the skills you have acquired and the tailor-made hypnotic CD’s you have been given. Hypnotherapy naturally compliments the work you are doing with other health professionals, by helping you achieve the mental conditioning required for success.     About Me - Alison Adams Hello my name is Alison Adams and I am the Clinical Hypnotherapist at Inner Switch Hypnotherapy. The other member of the team is Jill Penn who brings marketing and administrative skills to the business. I am passionate about hypnotherapy and the positive life-enhancing changes it can bring. This enthusiasm lead me to graduate from the most comprehensive hypnotherapy course available in NZ: the 3 year diploma offered through the New Zealand School of Clinical Hypnotherapy. I have also taken specialist courses on Sports Hypnotherapy, Hypnotherapy with Children and Hypnotherapy with the Terminally ill. My background is in science: I have lectured and taught physics at Canterbury University as well as at secondary school level. You may wonder how on earth someone with a PhD in Engineering from Oxford University ended up working in the Hypnotherapy field. For me it was a natural progression as I’ve always been interested in understanding how things work and problem solving. All that I’ve done is switch my focus from the physical world to the fascinating world of the mind. Hypnotherapy appeals because it is so practical and solution focused, and most importantly it works! When not working, I love to enjoy the beautiful beach and estuary environment on my doorstep: I go walking most days, and boogie boarding throughout the summer. My creative side is expressed when cooking in the kitchen and by making mosaics out of old crockery, which are scattered throughout the garden. I also love music, dancing and yoga, social activities and travel.
