"I am a professional basketballer who has really struggled to gain weight due to my high metabolism and the frequency and intensity of my trainings. I moved to Palmerston North at the conclusion of the Australian NBL season to play for the Manawatu Jets.
The NZ NBL season runs in the Australian League off season, so although I am playing full time I still have to somewhat train as if it is a real off season.
My number one goal was to put on 5kgs over a period of 3 months. I came into the NZ NBL season weighing in at 94kgs, and as a 205cm professional athlete that is a little on the thin side. The reason I used Nick was to get him to help me come up with an easy way to help me eat more, spend less time cooking, and all in a way that was relatively easy to follow.
Now, as Nick will tell you your diet is just one of the factors that contribute to gaining or losing weight. Nick also looked at my training schedule; he tried to get an idea of the intensity of each work out and also the duration. Once he has taken a look at all the factors he comes up with a solid meal plan which is easy to follow and adaptable.
I was impressed by the service and detail that he provided and would recommend him to any athletes and non-athletes out there who are serious about achieving weight related goals. I have recently returned to Perth to prepare for the upcoming Australian NBL season. I have managed to put on a solid 4 kilos which fluctuates daily depending on my daily dietary habits and the scales I use, however, the coaches and my team mates are impressed by how much bigger and stronger I am.
4kgs may not seem like much but for a guy who has to battle day in and day out against seven footers and guys that weigh an extra 10 to 15kgs, it is rather significant, especially since I have been the same weight for the past 5 or 6 years.
