I discovered the benefits of Reiki shortly after moving to NZ from the United States. At that time I was a practicing equine (horse) veterinarian, who was looking to expand my skills into a more holistic approach after being frustrated by the lack of sustainability of the purely western approach. I was searching for courses to take and could find none in NZ. I came across a Reiki Master who had a journey which mirrored my own in many ways.
She too, had been a veterinarian and was now teaching and practicing Reiki full time. I contacted her thinking she would know a direction to take. After speaking with her, I went for a treatment session to basically see “what would open up”. After that first session, I got back in touch with many parts of myself which were forgotten. I was back in touch with my intuition, and I started to know what to do from a holistic point of view with my horse patients. My practice began to turn around, and not only that, all the aspects of my life were opening up. Up until that point of time, I was a person keen on personal growth and progress, and always pushing my own edge, challenging myself to achieve perfection.
My past included challenging exercise/sport, career, and significant longterm relationships which all pushed my physical, emotional and mental edges. However, I would always run into barriers I could not seem to surpass. I would try everything I could, but the only solution I could ever see was to change the situation. When I discovered Reiki, quite by accident on a personal level as it came to me from a professional aspect in my life, I rediscovered the untapped Source of all the Energy that I had inevitably covered up early on in my life since it did not fit with any dogma or religion which was surrounding me at the time. In doing this, I had covered up personal gifts, which would aid and break through any barriers I was experiencing. Obviously I was hooked, and undertook the Seminars a few months later to learn to give it.
After learning the practice, I fully incorporated it into my life. It changed my life, on every level, and over the past few years, I have been treating not only animals, but people as well. After seeing how much difference learning Reiki has made for my life, I wanted to be able to share this healing art with other people, which is why I am in the midst of a Master Teacher apprenticeship.

Sessions & Seminars
Reiki sessions: 1 hour by appointment Monday-Saturdays available
Reiki is a hands on therapy which the universal life force energy (ULE) given. There is no physical manipulation involved. It is gentle and subtle, yet powerful and transformational. The Reiki practitioner is simply a “lightening rod” for the energy that is everywhere and it is channeled through that person to be given via the hands to the person receiving.
During the treatment, Reiki energy is given by the practitioner. The ULE will transform your energy system so healing can take place. Since Reiki energy is transformational, blockages or areas which are lacking in energy may be activated, areas of high density or stuck energy in specific locations may be lightened, or energy that is overactive and no longer serving you may be released. The transformation of the energy takes place not only during the session, but sustains itself to essentially speed up the process for a period of time after the session. Treatments open up the flow of energy, not only on a physical level, but can act on an emotional, mental, and/or spiritual level as well. On whichever level the shift is experienced, it will be the one that needs to shift before healing can take place.
Reiki energy balances, aligns, and transforms. During the session, due to the shifts and changes taking place, subtle sensations or heat may be physically experienced, release of thoughts and/or emotions may be perceived, or deep relaxation may be achieved. Anything experienced will be part of the process.
Seminars (Reiki I and II)
Reiki I: 4 two hour sessions either on a weekly basis over 4 weeks or over a weekend
Reiki II: 6 two hour sessions on a weekly basis over 6 weeks
*The structure of the seminars is done on a person by person basis. Can be completed individually or in small groups up to four people
Seminars should be undertaken by individuals who want to connect to the Source of Universal Lifeforce Energy within. During the seminars, the channel is opened up so the ULE is flowing continually. You simply become a vessel or channel for the energy. Since you are the vessel, you will go through changes so the energy flows effectively enough through you in order to give to yourself and other people, animals, etc. The initiation will take you to a state of higher consciousness, and show you ways to maintain this state of being. The goal in moving to higher levels of Reiki is to deepen the connection to the Energy, and to learn not only to maintain a higher level of consciousness, but to continue to rise to higher states of consciousness. It is a journey of self discovery, empowerment, love, inspiration, and mastery, which you are filled with the Energy to the extent you are overflowing with it so it can be shared with others.
It creates an embodied experience of life in every aspect, so you can go with the flow of life, and move consciously with it.
Once the connection is made, it is always there. There is no need to retake the course, or do refresher courses. The practice will guide you.
Animal sessions
Since the art of Reiki came to me originally through giving Reiki to horses, I continue to offer sessions to animals. Animals are very sensitive and open to Reiki as they are embodied energy without a human mind that has preconditioned ideas/beliefs about the therapy. My experience with Reiki with animals has shown that Reiki can shift diseases/injury, thereby healing them; it can expose an undiagnosed/ misdiagnosed problem, so that it may be handled with awareness; if the animal’s condition/behavior is affecting the owner/household, it can bring an awareness to the forefront of the surrounding people environment to help shift the group through that process, etc. These are to name a few, and I am always open to Reiki showing me other ways it will work through animals. Horses are a special case upon themselves, because they allow themselves to be ridden by people. Much energy gets transferred between people and horses because of this, and the people/horse team will share many injuries, conditions, and disease energies because of this extraordinary relationship. Reiki given to horses, many times leads to Reiki given to the riders/drivers/trainers/caretakers as well, for a more holistic approach. To embark on this kind of therapy with animals is a journey within itself.
