ABOUT ME
Originally from Canada, I left in 1990 to live and work in Japan for four years. After Japan I travelled to New Zealand and met a sheep farmer who inspired me to settle in Southland twenty-two years ago.
I've had a range of work experience but psychotherapy is the one occupation I’ve held an enduring enthusiasm for over the last fifteen years.
My studies have been academic in psycotherapy and supervision and informal in learning practical methods to offer clients to continue to work on developing skills in between sessions. When working with clients I bring together my knowledge of depth counselling, analytical psychology, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, clinical supervision, human relations, yoga, career counselling and – to a lesser extent – vipassana and mind/body focusing, as well as different approaches to developing consciousness.
My beliefs about psychology, human behaviour and body/mind healing are heavily influenced by Carl Jung and yogic philosophy. I describe my approach as relational, transpersonal and intersubjective. This means whether I’m working with a therapy client or a supervisee I believe that since we are each living a different life we each see life from a different perspective. In sharing and combining our perspectives we create the means to affect and to deepen our view of ourselves, our relationships and the world around us.
If you would like further information about my approach to therapy or supervision, or if you would like to discuss whether my approach is right for you, I’m happy to talk with you under no obligation or expectation. Please ring on 027 6878 113 or send an email.
Your vision will become clear only when you look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. Carl G. Jung
