REBECCA HAS BEEN PRACTISING REFLEXOLOGY ON THE NORTH SHORE FOR 8 YEARS AND IS A PROFESSIONAL MEMBER OF REFLEXOLOGY NEW ZEALAND
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands, which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. It is a unique method of using the thumbs and fingers on these reflex areas. There are thousands of nerve endings in the feet and hands making these areas very sensitive to stimuli. Pressure on the reflexes creates a response in all parts of the body and this reaction enables the treatment to influence the whole body. Reflexology is a natural non-invasive therapy, which relieves stress and tension, decreases congestion and inflammation, improves nerve and blood supply and helps nature to normalise. It can bring relief for a whole array of conditions including:- bronchial conditions
- arthritis
- sleep disorders
- back and muscular pain
- digestion problems
- infertility
- hormone imbalance
- migraine
- depression
Many healthy people also use it regularly as a way of easing tension in the mind and body to maintain good health.
If you would prefer hand reflexology this also is very effective, especially for people suffering from OOS type problems in their hands or wrists. Also great for those who want the benefits of reflexology but don't like having their feet touched!
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN EACH SESSION?
On your first visit you will be asked to complete a health consultation sheet to help assess your needs while you have a compress on your feet with a warm flannel and aromatherapy oils. The treatment will begin with some relaxation techniques. A systematic approach is then taken to work all the reflexes on the feet, with particular attention to any areas of congestion. Congestion or tenderness in a specific area of the foot could indicate a blockage or build-up of toxins in the part of the body that the reflex corresponds to. Working these areas on the feet (or hands) will stimulate the breakdown of congestion or tension that may have accumulated in different areas of the body, having a detoxifying effect and encouraging the body to heal itself.
For every individual the effect of the treatment is unique. The treatment will last approximately 1 hour unless otherwise specified but please allow longer if it is your first session.
ABOUT ME
Over the years I’ve come into contact with a number of different health practitioners seeking relief from the Chronic Fatigue I have suffered from since I was a teenager. I became interested in reflexology when I had a treatment and found it immediately helpful for relieving the digestion problems I suffered from. I completed a diploma in both reflexology and anatomy & physiology through the International Institute of Reflexology and have been working as a reflexologist since early 2008. It’s satisfying to be doing something where I can help people make a difference to their health and well being.
I am a professional member of Reflexology New Zealand the only regulatory body of professional reflexologists in this country.
