She is a very trusting, caring person and shares her knowledge of reflexology and medicine to benefit my overall wellbeing. Annie McEwin.

From the first treatment the swelling in my ankles reduced, so much my family noticed and commented. It is wonderful. Barbara Matheson.

About Me

I believe that health & well-being are fundamental essentials to living a happy & fulfilling life. I became involved in health care after I left school, completing a Nursing Diploma. I have always had an interest in Complementary therapies and was introduced to Reflexology on my OE in London. I found it intriguing, so I studied with Philip Salmons Reflexology Centre in Hammersmith. I have been practising Reflexology for over 10 years now. I am a happy, positive person with an easy-going attitude.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural healing therapy that assists the body in relaxing, balancing and healing itself. This is based on the principal that reflexes in the feet and hands mirror and correspond to a specific part of the body, pressure is applied to these reflex points to treat the whole body and stimulate the body’s own natural healing process. The therapy brings relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions and is suitable for all ages.

How it works

The dynamics of reflexology work holistically, embracing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energies of an individual. Physically, reflexology acts as a chain reaction affecting all the systems of the body, through the skin, nerves, glands and circulatory system to the internal organs. Mentally it works because the person is taking control and responsibility for their own health. Emotionally, the power of touch cannot be underestimated. Tension is released and relaxation creates harmony throughout the body. Spiritually, reflexology balances the person to the vibrational frequencies within nature and the universe. When healing takes place it is due to many factors. Reflexology facilitates the process of healing, through the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the person.

Origins of Reflexology

The origin of the ancient healing art of reflexology dates back to early Indian, Chinese and Egyptian cultures. The feet offered vital clues to a person’s state of health. In 1913, Dr William Fitzgerald, an American ENT surgeon, introduced this therapy to the West. He divided the body into 10 equal and vertical zones, ending in the fingers and toes. He concluded that pressure on one part of a zone could affect everything else within that zone. Reflex areas on the feet and hands are linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.

The therapist, Eunice Ingham, further developed and refined the zone theory in the 1930s, into what is now known as Foot Reflexology. She observed that congestion or tension in an part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. Thus, when you treat the big toes there is a related effect in the head, and treating the whole foot can have a relaxing and healing effect on the whole body.
