Welcome to The Art of Yoga
The Art of Yoga is a private yoga studio in Helensville. Principal teacher Linsey Smith has been teaching since 2001 in Auckland, Helensville, Kumeu , Kaukapakapa and the Kaipara district.

"You do not need to be flexible to begin with, yoga is not about putting your feet behind your ears, it's not about how you look or what you can achieve.
Our classes include students from all backgrounds and fitness levels, because you are encouraged to focus on your breath and bring awareness into the moment you can let go of the need to compete, struggle or be constantly achieving, a great feeling in today's faced paced world.
This does not mean you will not receive some challenges in the classes, but that you will develope the ability to accept them when and if you are ready."
"At The Art of Yoga our style of yoga is fluid and dynamic, which has neuro-muscular benefits- helping you to establish new and more beneficial movement patterns.
Yoga postures (asana) can also be held for short periods of time , to encourage the body and mind to relax and find stillness, encouage flexibility and strength. I encourage students to find the form of the pose which is correct for them, rather than forcing or contorting your body which can inhibit you from receiving benefits from the poses.
Classes include asana (yoga excercises), pranayama (breathing techniques), mantra (sound), and yoga nidra ( deep relaxation) and / or meditation (concentration).
I have trained initialy with IYTA NZ and Ashram Yoga to the advanced level, in2001 and 2005, and studied Therapeutic Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater in 2008 and 2010. I trained in Pre Natal and post Natal Yoga in 2011
I continue to be inspired by Yoga Therapy , Satyananda Yoga and Ayurveda to create balanced , healthy , relaxing, vitalising and sometimes challenging classes! Continuing my commitment to my students and practice by regular attendance at workshops and yoga intensives in New Zealand and overseas.

Classes run as individual courses within the school term, the following classes are available, please email for more information and to keep updated with our latest offerings!
Tuesday 6.30pm - 8.00pm
Thursday 9.00am - 10.30am
Friday Night Light - once per month on Friday evenings

Open Level classes are suitable for beginners to advanced level. If you are an absolute beginner or pregnant please phone us regards the right class for you, private lessons may also be booked.
Bookings are Essential
(Please call for Term concession prices because these vary according to the length of each term, usually 8 -10 weeks.)
All mats, cushions and blankets are provided in our comfortable studio, just come in comfortable clothing and try not to eat a heavy meal before hand. Our studio is warm and relaxing, fully carpeted so you may sink down in shavasana and enjoy a relaxing yoga nidra at the end of each 1.5 hour class.
We are handy to shops and cafes and easy to find on Commercial Road Helensville, just look up for the BIG PINK The Paua Room sign as you come into town. Parking is available on the street outside the studio or shop.

To book your space in any of our classes please contact us. When casual spaces are available you do not need to book.Get your term booking in early as classes can fill up quickly.
