WAIKATO WEIGHT LOSS SUPPORT GROUP
Sometimes a little support is all it takes!
What is the Waikato Weight Loss Support Group?
It is a group of supportive individuals each embarking on their own weight loss journey for greater health. We meet once a week to discuss the plans we're on, to share our challenges and our successes and effectively move forwards towards our goals with the help of a qualified nutritionist and personal trainer.
Who is eligible to join?
Anyone who is currently undertaking a weight loss or vitality program for the purposes of increasing health may join. This group does not support disordered eating patterns which are subject to medical concern. This is for both your safety and the group.
I'm doing the Body for Life program on my own with the book, can I join the group?
Absolutely! All programs are welcome including: Atkins, The Zone, Body For Life, pH Miracle, CSIRO Wellbeing Diet, The New Glucose Revolution, Liver Cleansing Diet, Lemon Detox Diet, Weight Watchers, Sureslim, etc. This is not to say that fads or stop start dieting is ok. This group is to support and assist those on these types of diets, as many times we buy a book and then embark on the diet alone, not knowing whether we've understood it completely and not having any one to bounce ideas off when we start encountering challenges. Your nutritionist will help you work through these plans to ensure you are meeting all your nutrient requirements
What about exercise?
This is your group, so if you want to discuss exercise, by all means! You will have access to a Registered Personal Trainer, so please make use of this! You can ask questions about whether you need to join a gym and what other types of exercise based groups are there in Hamilton. Eventually will look at adding a small voluntary exercise component into the group.
What can I expect will happen in the group?
First thing to remember is that everything is voluntary. Each week we will do a quick weigh in and plot your progress, tape measurements and skin fold assessments are available to those who it is applicable for. Each week there will be a new theme up for discussion, (for example, how to invent your own tasty low carb recipes, or how to set goals that stick) and the floor will be open for members to discuss any issues that other members can brainstorm on. You will be able to ask questions to the nutritionist, dispelling some food myths and learning new things about nutrition, exercise and health. You will have exclusive access to discounts on product, nutritionist consultations and home based personal training sessions. But most of all, you will have a new support network - perhaps someone to exercise with, or just someone to ring up when hubby's being a pain and tempting you with treats.
When, where and how much?
The Hamilton Weight Loss Support Group runs every Monday evening for an hour from 5.30pm - Venue TBC. The cost is $10 per person. You must register first so we can get an idea of numbers
TESTIMONIALS:
I knew I had food allergies but I wasn't actually sure what it was to. So I decided once and for all to figure this out and sort the help from Stacey Hancock to identify what foods it could be from. Through her powers of deduction and dogged determination to solve my gut aching problem, she has been able to help me identify the potential causes of my food allergies. Now 3 months down the track, I have elimanated most of my allergy causing foods and feeling much better as a result. I feel less bloated, functioning much clearer and have lost a kg which has been a bonus. Thanks Stacey for your help!" Lisa Menzies

I contacted Stacey after reading a column in Tempo about her.
I said to her, "I think I need you" and I was correct, she was exactly what I needed after years of trying to lose weight that had crept on.
Her knowledge and un-waivering support, along with the program she provided and the exercises that she made me do all worked to produce a 10kg loss. Am I where I want to be, no [not yet] but I'm 10 kilos closer and I'm thrilled.
With summer approaching it is so nice to wear clothes that I thought had 'shrunk' in my wardrobe and just simply not to be carrying around that extra 'kilo baggage' is a complete relief! I just feel better and lighter! The compliments from people like "wow, look at you, what have you been doing" are great!
I am a shift worker who sustained a foot injury (on the job) whilst completing Stacey's program, and she still management to extract positive results from me!
Is it easy? Well, yes and no. Easy that Stacey provides the "rules" of what can be consumed and what exercise should be done, easy that she weighs and measures you each week so you can see how you are going and easy that she stays in touch and never makes you feel stink if you do gain or don't lose as much as you wanted. Hard in that you have to no shove all that extra food into you gob, and hard that you actually have to complete the exercise - but the key is to find what you like to do!
Thank you Stacey

I didn't know what to eat to not become fat and I didn't know what my weight was supposed to even be. In 6 months I put on 16.7kg and only 8kg was body fat, with the rest being lean! Stacey showed me how healthy I looked and that this is the weight I should be, she taught me what foods to eat and the amounts to eat so that I can stay this weight. Jason.

Hi Stacey
Ticking along nicely thanks! I’m down to 90.3kg as of last Friday, and really starting to notice clothes feeling loser around my waist. I’m stoked that the excesses of Xmas didn’t have too much of an effect, and I seem to be a lot more energetic these days.
Thanks heaps for your help
Cheers
Matt

My name is Heidi and I first met Stacey through my brother who had been seeing her for some nutrition advice etc. Being 25 and several kilos over weight I decided it was time to get this part of my life sorted. My first appointment with stacey was great, she looked at my lifestyle and what I was already doing with excercise and food, and worked from there. Over the following four months, to my great suprise I might add, I lost 12kgs! I was amazed that I had actually done it. having said this, I could not have done this without Staceys amazing guidence. The food plan was yes different to what I had been eating, but it was realistic as well, achievable. Stacey not only gave me food guidelines etc, but was also there to help at those times when I felt that I had got stuck. Now Stacey is still helping guide me through my weight loss journey and I know that because of Staceys help and guidence that one day in the not too distant future I will be able to stand on my own two feet and do the rest of my journey on my own with confidence.
