We all have the potential to use our minds in a more powerful way to achieve any goal that we set ourselves – if we are just shown ho . My philosophy is to share with you how to use your mind to become relaxed, focused, confident and to over come any obstacle in your way. I focus on empowering my clients to make the positive changes that they truly desire. This means that they can keep moving toward a greater and clearer understanding and experience of their true potential. My sessions incorporate education and increased self awareness (e.g. identifying one’s own limiting beliefs and problem behaviours, recognizing how and what is contributing to our own problems and what is strengthening those behaviours) , alongside hypnosis in the form of a personalised therapy. This is all done within a positive and supportive therapeutic relationship. I combine my knowledge and training in the topics of Nutrition, Psychology, Counselling, Neuroscience, Brain Development and Attachment to assist my clients to understand themselves better and to make more informed and powerful choices, followed by empowered action. I am also providing Psychotherapy sessions as I am currently furthering my skills by training in TA Psychotherapy. Jane Valentine – Dip. Clin. Hyp, Dip. NZP. MNZSCAH. (MNHCNZ) Clinical Hypnotherapist, Counsellor, Psychotherapist ( in training) I became a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist because I had personally experienced the amazing results of Hypnosis while training to be a Police Officer in 1994. I used it in my studies and in my physical training with excellent results. Later on I also used it in sports and medical situations and the positive results blew me away. Being a therapist is all about empowering others. It is incredibly rewarding work and I feel privileged to assist in the growth of others. I feel that I am involved in one of the most rewarding professions in the world! I work with both children and adults. Much of my clientele is through referrals from health professionals, GP’s and recommendations from past clients. Choosing between Counselling & Psychotherapy is not as important as finding a therapist who is a good fit for you. Research shows that the connection between therapist and client is the most important factor in successful outcomes. However, you can narrow your decision about engaging in counseling or psychotherapy by considering the following things: • Do you have a single concern that you would like to get some feedback on? Consider counselling. • Have you noticed a pattern of problems or concerns that seems to keep coming up? Consider psychotherapy. • Are you typically satisfied with your life and relationships, and just looking for a sounding board? Consider counselling. • Is it time to address previous trauma or family patterns that are keeping you from feeling good in your own skin? Consider psychotherapy. COUNSELLING Do you need help with: Relationships Work Life Stress Health Issues Personal Issues Grief Depression Anxiety Parenting or some other challenging issue? Psychotherapy, also takes place over a series of sessions, although often it has a longer duration than counseling, it can be both short or long term. Instead of narrowing in on individual problems, psychotherapy considers overall patterns, chronic issues, and recurrent feelings. This requires an openness to exploring the past and its impact on the present. The aim of psychotherapy is to resolve the underlying issues which fuel the clients’ ongoing complaints. Psychotherapists help clients to resolve past experiences as part of laying the foundation for a more satisfying future.. Therapy often requires you to discuss upsetting emotions and painful memories. Bringing up these thoughts can feel difficult to start. This process is necessary to move forward and in time, you should start to feel better. To get the most from your therapy sessions you should aim to make them consistent. Some sessions will feel more helpful than others, but it is important to realise that everything your therapist is doing is designed to help you in the long run. The psychotherapy process requires a strong relationship between you and your therapist and a degree of effort on your part – together these two elements create a successful method to help you resolve your issues. Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy Transactional Analysis (TA) is an easy to understand theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change. TA is underpinned by the philosophy that, firstly, people can change and, secondly, we all have a right to be in the world and to be accepted. Transactional analysts are trained to recognize which ego states people are transacting from. By identifying which ego state you are functioning from you can become more aware of self-sabotaging thinking, judgments and behaviours that go along with that ego state. Understanding how you give and receive positive and negative strokes to yourself and others, and changing any unhealthy patterns around this are also powerful aspects of work in Transactional Analysis. One important theory in TA ,that also fits with and compliments the latest neuro-scientific findings, is in our early years of development we all form a script that maps out what is going to happen to us for the rest of our lives. The decisions we make as young children, about the world, other people and ourselves strongly influence the decisions we make as adults. By truly understanding what these, often unconscious, decisions were, we can then begin to change the power that they have been having our present lives. I have found Transactional Analysis to be a powerful tool in enabling self understanding and change. It can assist individuals to become more authentically themselves, create more intimacy in their relationships, have more autonomy and to reach their full potential. Would you like to understand why you do the same thing or feel the same feelings over and over again? Would you like to change your script to a more positive one? Call to make an appointment today. Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon which we encounter daily. Have you ever found yourself: - Looking out of a window with a far away look in your eyes thinking intently about a particular thing?
- Reading a really good book and getting so absorbed in it that you forget where you are for a while?
- Jogging or working out and feeling detached from your worries for a while?
If you can relate to any of these experiences, you have already been in the same state as hypnosis. While in hypnosis your brain waves change from beta (wide awake) to alpha (relaxed) to Theta (deeply relaxed). Hypnosis is a state of: Body Asleep – Mind Awake. When you are in this deeply relaxed state, your subconscious mind can access information and accept positive suggestions for behavioural change and the control of bodily functions such as natural pain relief.
